On the morning of March 12, 2019, Prof. Udaya Parampalli from the University of Melbourne visited our Faculty upon invitation and made a brilliant academic report entitled“Non Linear Feedback Shift Registers in Stream Ciphers”for teachers and graduate students in related majors in the lecture hall 201.

In his presentation, Udaya Parampalli introduced the background on linear and non linear feedback shift registers in stream ciphers at first. And then, he introduced the Fibonacci and Galois nonlinear feedback shift registers and the application of shift registers in the three kinds of stream cipher algorithms in detail. Finally, he presented some of their recent improvement work on the above stream cipher algorithms. After the report, Prof. Udaya Parampalli had an in-depth discussion with the teachers and students. Everyone said they benefited a lot from Prof. Udaya’s report.

Udaya Parampalli is a professor of the Department of Computing & Information Systems, the University of Melbourne. His main research interests include Cybersecurity, coding theory, cryptography and the application of sequence in information hiding and communication. Prof. Udaya Parampalli is a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), a member of the program committee of several international conferences on cryptography and sequence, and the general chair of the 2014 international conference on sequences and their applications (SETA 2014). Prof. Udaya Parampalli has done pioneering work in fields such as sequence design and cryptography.
